Collector’s choice

Easy WoW mounts: clear routes without the raid lottery

Start with a route, whose result depends on clear actions: find items, complete a maze, or gather goods for an exchange.

What “easy” means here

This selection features mounts with a clear final condition: finish a route, buy a completed item, or bring the vendor the required goods. It does not promise everything in one evening. Travel to old expansions, auction prices, character preparation, and unlocked activities all affect the result. A ground mount cannot replace a flying one, however impressive it looks.

Start by choosing one free route and one purchase, whose price you are willing to compare. This lets you try both approaches without spending all your gold on the first appealing silhouette.

Two routes in Ardenweald

Shimmermist Runner requires following the Mistveil Tangle maze correctly on foot, defeating Shizgher, and clicking the horse itself. Flying straight to the final clearing is not enough. If the guardian disappears as you approach, check the order of turns rather than waiting for a random drop.

Wildseed Cradle works differently: collect five gardening tools, combine them, and return them to Twinklestar. Receiving Moonsight grants access to the chest with the flying cradle. There is no boss to farm for rare reins; your main task is not to miss anything while collecting.

When the auction house is more convenient

Mount What to buy or collect Important distinction
Sandstone Drake Finished Vial of the Sands Transforms your character into a dragon; can carry a passenger
Steelbound Devourer Finished Steelbound Harness Two-headed hound for ground travel only
Coalfist Gronnling Finished mount item Ground-only; buying avoids waiting for the garrison mission
Temperamental Skyclaw 20 each of three treats Fixed exchange with Zon’Wogi after collecting the food

Before paying, check the exact finished item’s name. A Vial of the Sands recipe or crafting schematic does not itself add a mount to your collection. Using a finished Sandstone Drake does not require Alchemy, nor Steelbound Devourer Blacksmithing. Compare prices in your region: these purchases have no permanent “correct price.”

A simple requirement still needs preparation

For Magmashellyou need an empty shell and must survive the entire interaction channel in lava. Finding the snail does not mean, the attempt will succeed; arrange protection or a healer’s help in advance.

Red Flying Cloud requires Lorewalkers reputation. Reading monuments is only part of the route: then check your mail and turn in Cho’s stories. It is a longer journey through Pandaria, but every completed set brings the purchase closer.

Mark your chosen mount “In progress” and record missing food, tools, or the next stage in your notes. Card routes were verified on October 31, 2026; this collection’s date does not mean every game condition has been rechecked.
